Hi it's Xavier Chang Principal of XC Consulting.

Today I'm back with another episode of Xcel with Xavier, where I'm answering the question, "What is the best digital productivity tool?"

My answer to that is it really doesn't matter which tool you use, what you're really trying to solve for is creating consistency and minimizing errors across your projects, your processes, and your people.

Today we're going to be looking at three different types of tools and some of the providers that offer these great services.

The first one is the digital project management tool. And this is probably the most common tool and these try to solve for creating projects that are on time, on budget and within scope.

So some of the cool features for a digital project management tool include having different views, like the Gantt view chart or the Kanban view. The Kanban view allows you to drag and drop finished items from bucket to bucket and it's very visual. Another cool feature is in-app messaging.

What these features really try to do is to remove some of the functionalities that you might do somewhere else, like email or having a separate calendar and baking it all into one tool, which is the digital project management management tool. Some of those providers out there include Teamwork, Asana, some of those bigger names out there.

The next one we're looking at is the business process management tool or BPM. And these tools focus on process, documenting process, managing the processes and improving on the processes to make them more efficient. Some of the providers out there include Tallyfy. You also have Process Street, which is really popular.

The last is the Wiki tool and much like Wikipedia, these tools take a lot of text, a lot of information, and they organize it in a fashion that is searchable, that is visual, and just makes it a lot easier to interact than just reading a big, huge block of text. Some of those providers out there include, Proper Channel, you've got Confluence and that's more focused on, the IT industry, big provider there.

Those are the three different types of tools out there on the market. It depends on what you are trying to solve for. There is no best solution out there; really as a business owner and entrepreneur, what you want to do is create processes that are repeatable and minimize errors. That is the main focus.

The tool really doesn't matter.

So if you are doing that with pen and paper or something, digital, that is the objective there.

So thanks for watching another episode of Xcel with Xavier. I'm leaving my links to my LinkedIn profile, my website and the tools we mentioned in the description below. So check those out. Don't forget to subscribe and like this video, if you thought this was helpful. Thanks so much and see you next time.
